Sleeping Reader

Back to the Read-a-thon.... we got home later than usual last Friday, but you insisted on still meeting your reading goal. Later I found you like this - snoring - somehow still holding up your book.

The next morning - I asked if the iPad timer went off and did you turn out your light to go to sleep? You said yes...but then I showed you the pictures, and you laughed and laughed. But then asked - "Did I still meet my goal?"

You're a nut..but I love you.

Encore Writing - Rocky & the Undiscovered Planets

In Encore - you all are still continuing with the space curriculum this semester. One recent assignment was to create a new planet. I love how everything works out so well and so quickly in this story. :)

100th Day of School

Hi Maevy -

No dress up this year for your 100th day of school, instead Ms. Young used a cool app to make you look 100.

We found your short essay hilarious...I guess you think old people are lazy or just hope to continue in your pursuit of lounging.

Too funny...

Love,

Mommy

Superhero of Week

Maevy-

Your week of being Superhero of the Week ended up being over 2 weeks, due to snow.

Day 1- Brought in your poster- all about you. Ms. Young laminated it, which was nice.

Day 2- Shared a toy/item from home. You shared a stuffed doll that your cousin, Lily, made/gave to you.

Day 3 - Shared a favorite book from home. You brought in Where the Sidewalk Ends...since your class had been learning and writing poems all week.

Day 4- Ms. Young read notes from home (see below). I think your class thought Carter's comments were the funniest.

Day 5- You read/received a booklet of notes from your classmates. The notes were very sweet and some of them funny. You were very teacher-like when reading them, noting when your friends were missing a sentence or a capital letter.

Snow Day Round 2

Maevy -

You were supposed to be Superhero of the Week - this week...but they've closed school the last 3 days. You'r Valentine's Day party has been moved to tomorrow (we're thinking there will be school) and a field trip to the symphony was cancelled. Oh and Daddy's been gone...phew - what a week.

Thanks for being such a trooper from coming to work with Mommy, going to breakfast with Mommy, and hanging with friends at Shelby Park Community Center the last couple of days. Good thing we've been on top of your homework still - because Ms. Young emailed this morning saying - it's still due tomorrow!

At Mommy's work - diligently working on Valentine's Day themed cubicle art for a couple of my co-workers -

Grandma sent a couple books for Valentine's Day...one that you basically read in (1) 50 minute session - this is you after you finished it, and then sweetly requested that we get you all of them in the series and by the author.

Then guess what - Monday is President's Day - no school that day either. I guess eventually you'll go back...you might be 7 by then!

Love you,

Mommy
