St. Patrick's Day

As is the custom, we dressed you in green for St. Patrick's Day. You looked pretty cute and quickly tore apart the button Mommy made for you.

Cindy Crawford

You'll be too young to ever really know the impact of Cindy Crawford in the 90s, but her beauty mark/mole was also famous. During dinner you got a little something on your face, and you had a Cindy Crawford moment. Daddy captured it-

Spring Break

You had a great spring break with Grandma and Grandpa. One day you were sent home from school with a fever. So you just took a couple naps and hung at the house. The next day you felt much better and took a trip to the library. On Friday you met Mommy for lunch. Then headed to Monkey's Treehouse, an indoor play area. You enjoyed playing in the kitchen, with the cars, and felt wall. Of course, Grandma and Grandpa aren't the best at remembering to take pictures. So here are some pictures from later in the weekend-

More swim lessons... You are still having fun, but don't enjoy floating on your back, as evidenced by this pictured.
Sunday afternoon we loaded you up in the car right after you woke from a nap and headed to the Tennessee State Museum. We fed you a snack on the way there. Looks like some turkey got stuck to your face. :)It was fun having the place to ourselves. You enjoyed walking around and knocking down Mommy's log cabin.

1st Birthday Party

Maevy, you had a wonderful 1st birthday party. It was another beautiful day, just like when you were born.

Inspired by spring and the cute invitations Mommy found online, I picked a Butterfly theme for your party. It was family only, but Mommy still went all out. Mommy did most of the planning, but thankfully Daddy was a big help. He helped clean, set up, painted close pins for the craft, and even decorated cupcakes.

Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt Robyn, MT, Gpa, and Aunt Anna attended. You wore a butterfly dress-I made lots of butterfly themed food (butterfly chicken pasta, pepperoni, butterfly crackers, and cheese, cocoons, herb goat cheese and cucumber sandwiches, and of course butterfly cupcakes).
You'll eat anything, but seemed to enjoy the cupcake.
("new shoes" from 2nd cousins and we thought it was funny you were eating with your legs sticking straight out.)Everyone participated in making a butterfly craft.
And everyone contributed something to your time capsule. By the end of of the 2 hour event, you were tuckered out and took a nice long nap. Happy birthday Maev! You're a toddler now!

Birthday Wishes from Aunt Anna

Dear Maevy,

You are getting close to your first birthday, and there has been a lot of fuss going on. You will read many blog entries about how great you are and how cute you are, all that stuff. Don’t buy into it. Having visited you numerous times in this your first year, I haven’t seen you do anything all that special. You had a lot of trouble unraveling your fingers in the first few weeks of your life and subsequently, you would shove your fist into your mouth on occasion. I don’t think you even know your name, at least you never turn around when I call it. Let’s be real, it’s a big hassle trying to go anywhere with you. There are bags to carry and toys to remember and tiny packages filled with unrecognizable food. Speaking of food, you eat almost nothing from the restaurant when we go out. I used to be that picky, but I got over it. You take after G-pa Taylor, both of you take a series of naps each day and you both have to be fed on a regular basis; but come on, Maev, he’s had a spinal cord injury. I have taken dozens of pictures of you and half the time you find a way to screw them up. Then there is all the time spent fixing red eye and deleting the bad pictures, Grandma M messes up some of the pics as well with her “Momma smile,” but I digress…

Seriously, there has never been a baby more precious and happy as you are. Anti-Anna wants only the best for you as you become the smartest comedienne or the funniest astronaut ever. You have brought so much joy to your Mom & Dad, Aunts, Uncle Glenn, Grandparents, and everyone else who has met you. Life has many ups and downs; without the downs, you can’t appreciate the ups; without the ups, the downs would not be bearable. I hope your ups vastly outnumber your downs.

Love always,

Anti-Anna

Bday Pics

It's your 1st Birthday, Maevy! You didn't really seem to notice and were not very into taking pictures. We took about 100 in a 10minute period and these are the best. Yikes. Look at me, I have a balloon. (Thanks daycare.) Now, feed me. It's dinner time. Your birthday dinner consisted of beef sirloin, carrots, broccoli, green beans dipped in hummus, and peas. Get ready for this weekend- it's party time!

Happy Birthday!

Way to go Maevy!!! You made it through the first year of life! Your mother and I are so proud of you, and love you very much. Hope you have a great day, and a wonderful party this weekend with all your grandparents and some aunts.

Love, Daddy

Ain't Too Proud to Beg

Even though mommy and daddy are anti-pet, lately, we feel like we have a little doggie. Anytime one of us decides to have snack, no matter what you are in the middle of or when you last ate, you always crawl or walk over and either grab or open your mouth for a taste.

Here's some evidence. Mommy was trying to eat a quick lunch before she headed out to run some errands. Here you are eyeing the chip dipped in guacamole- Then you whine a little....and mommy gives you a taste. I recently read this article about normal tasters, super-tasters, and non-tasters. And I think you are a non-taster evidenced by your willingness to try and eat anything. Surprise, surprise here's another pic of you eating- I have no complaints. I'll take super-eater over a non-eater any day.
