Thank You Note

Hey Maevy -

Not sure if I've mentioned it- but you're in a book club at school. It's a small group of 6 kids (the highest level readers) from your class. Ms. Cramer - Tate's mom and also your Daisy troop leader - was nice enough to volunteer each Friday for your book club meeting. Ms. Young picks out and distributes the book to the group on Monday. Then you all read the book during the week - I assume during free reading time. It sounds like most of you generally finish the book, then you all meet and discuss the book with Ms. Cramer each Friday.

I guess Ms. Young asked you all to write Ms. Cramer a short thank you note for volunteering...last week.

We didn't know, but found a response note back from Ms. Cramer. So I asked Mr. Cramer ...what exactly did Maevy write - that elicited a thank you response note.

She sent me a copy of your note...you're hilarious, but sweet and very inquisitive.
Love you - goofball

Early Christmas Gift

Maevy-girl -

We've been talking about it for months...but Mommy finally got Daddy to make you a new bookcase last weekend. You desperately needed a new one and were running out of space in the old one. Plus I decided to paint your old one for the nursery nook upstairs.

Here's the finished product -

We really wanted it to be done and to re-oganize all your books - that you/we opted not to poly or give it a shine for the time being. I think Daddy did a good job at picking a stain that matches your current bedroom furniture. We talked about doing a cool, backboard in a pink vinyl or wrapping paper - but I think we might wait and see how this works out.

Current organization is:
Top shelf: Hard cover picture books in order of size
2nd shelf: Chapter books
3rd shelf: Paperback picture books
4th shelf: Activity books - Highlights, Which Way USA, etc...

You are clearly my daughter though - between Friday night when I took all of your books off the old bookcase and Sunday afternoon - you organized your books at least 3 different ways. Sunday morning - first thing when you woke up, instead of eating breakfast, waking us up, or playing on the iPad - I found you in your room, organizing your books on the floor by color - in order of the rainbow.

I was proud of you later in the day for going through your books and giving some to Carter and some to the Lending Library. We also cleaned and organized your desk. More like your Grandma - you are a bit of a hoarder and have a hard time parting with the simplest of "valuables". I'll admit, I defintely threw some (lots) of things away when you weren't looking. Baby steps... :)

Merry book-Christmas!

Star Wars Day

Guess who had a pretty awesome Friday and last day of school for the year -

Your class - mostly in pjs, you ready to go in your Star Wars gear -

After a short half day, Daddy pick you up and ya'll headed to Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens. Daddy said you were great, and took some hilarious notes - that included - "What's happening?, Who is that? Is he happy or sad? I'm not sure what's happening." Afterwards you and Daddy went and had hot chocolate to chat about the movie.

Then you had your first Girl Scout sleep-over "camping" night - at the zoo. It included a night hike and visit from a few animals. Hilarious - that in one of these pics you are sitting in Ms. Cramer's lap. Here are some pics -

Your winter break fun continues today with a trip to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Hunstville with Daddy, followed by quick sleep-over and hang with M & Poppy - then back to Nashville for Christmas.

Happy winter break!

Climbing Sunday

Maevy-girl-

I'm still working on getting you to commit to taking a climbing class or attending a Climb Nashville camp this summer. We decided to take you and Carter both climbing last Sunday. Carter didn't last long, but Daddy was nice to bole you for over 2 hours. You even did some bouldering....and some 5.9 tracks that you had to try a couple times and problem solve.

The heights don't seem to bother and you love getting to the top. Keep up the great work. We'll try and take you more often in the coming year. :)

Top club! Check out your little chalk bag...that you think it a necessity now. Daddy and I both crack up when you stop mid-climb to "chalk-up". :)
