DC Trip

Maevy-

We had a great DC trip. Mommy and Daddy saw all of their friends and we met several new baby-friends. Daddy saw his beloved Nats play Friday night, while Mommy had a Girls Night In at the Olivos' home. Saturday you met Nathaniel and Lydia. You were even very sweet and gave Nathaniel a kiss on the forehead followed by a poke to the mouth.

As a special surprise, Aunt Suz came down from NYC. As you can tell from the pictures, we went to several parks.
Sunday you met all of Mommy's college friends and more babies- Isabella, Sophia, and 4yr old- Mary Grace.

The cutest story of the weekend was Sunday afternoon at Stanton park on Capitol Hill. There was this little girl who was probably two. You locked your eyes on her while she was on a slide. Then when she was on the ground, you walked over and gave her a hug. She stepped away and you gave her another hug. Then she walked/ran away. You started to chase/follow her. The little girl's parents thought it was pretty cute and funny too. Eventually you gave up and moved on to something else. I wonder what made you like that little girl so much. (You following the little girl- below)

Oh and we met another Maeve. She was 2 1/2 and had an older brother Rowan.

You did great staying at Miss Rebecca and Mr. Brad's home. You might have left a couple cheerios behind, but at least the TV was intact.

Mommy and Daddy really love DC and we hope to make it our go-to vacation spot for years to come.

1st Plane Ride

Well Maevy, we all survived your 1st plane ride and trip. We went to DC this weekend to visit all of our friends there, and as a special surprise Aunt Suz came down to see you too! You were great on the plane ride up. You had a snack and slept during most of the ride. It also worked out that we scored you a free seat and were able to take your car seat on the plane. (Actual DC trip pics to come later...)

On the way back though, we ran into some bad luck. Our flight was at 8:30p, a little past your bedtime. I wasn't too worried about it and figured we would keep you up until the flight and then you would sleep during the plane ride. Well it started to thunderstorm in the DC area and planes started having problems landing in DC. Our plane was delayed until 9:05p, then 10:05p, then 11:50p, then 12:20a...and we finally left at around 1am. Once it got delayed to 11:50p, there was no way we were keeping you up until then, and we were already tired of walking/chasing you all around the terminal. So we found a dark corner and set up a bed time area- blanket, blankie, glow-seahorse, and the noise machine. I remembered from the show Supernanny that if we just stopped communication with you and kept laying you down, you would eventually get the idea that it was time to go to sleep. It took almost an hour, but Mommy and Daddy did it. A couple times you were almost asleep, but then something would happen and it would wake you up. Finally at 10p, you were out.
We set up a little dark tent/barrier around you, and stayed asleep until I had to wake you up to get on the plane.
Mommy finished her book club book. Daddy listened to some shows and took a nap. You were a little frustrated when we got on the plane. (We had just woken you up and you had only slept 2 1/2 hours. I was frustrated too!) But once the plane took off, you fell back asleep and were fine.We finally got home at 3:20a, and we all went to sleep in an actual bed! Luckily Mommy had already planned to take the day off, we slept in until 8:15a or so. Yay! You were great the whole trip, Maev. Sorry for the rough night, but we couldn't have asked for a better travel partner. Love you- Mommy

Jackson, TN

This weekend, we headed to Jackson, TN to watch Mommy and Aunt Robyn run a 1/2 Marathon. It was Mommy's 2nd, and she finished in 2:04- not bad! It was Aunt Robyn's 1st and she finished in 2:12. You did great in the car both ways. Post- race you took a nap. We had lunch, and then headed to a nearby toddler park where we all had a good time playing. You especially had a fun time with Aunt Robyn's friend, Jake.

Weekend Round-Up

We had a jam-packed weekend. Saturday we picked up the seedlings for the garden. Daddy planted the seedlings while you and Mommy headed out to visit our friends Jack and Miss Sarah. You really enjoyed playing with his toys and chewing on his bristle block toys.

Sunday was another big day which included church followed by a 2 1/2 hour nap. Then we headed to the Zoo to meet up with Charlie and Miss Kate. How cute is this picture of the two of you in the tot area. The tot area was a little crazy with all the older kids running and jumping everywhere. You just wanted to lay on the soft, plush, ground. See here...
and here. Then we played on the big playground. You sat in a hippo's mouth,
and even went down this huge slide with Daddy. He said at one point, he almost started to lose you.
I heard crying, and this is you right afterward...wanting to get away from Daddy. We looked at a few animals and even worked on our animal sign language. It was hot and you really don't like sitting in your stroller. So we left and headed over to the Frist Museum and their Martin Quest Kid Gallery. We played with more animals,
did a pattern rubbing,

and painted with watercolors. Eventually you decided to get some water by putting the paint brush in your mouth. I think your favorite part of the whole day was playing in the fountains outside of The Frist. You just kept laughing and splashing. Phew! That was a big weekend. Hope you had fun! (Note: A few decent pics by Daddy.)

1 year old Photo Shoot

Our last professional pics of you were taken in November. So we figured it would be nice to do 1 year old photo shoot. (And also get some pics of mommy & daddy for their 5th Anniversary.) You were great, as always. We didn't get too many family shots because (surprise, surprise) you are not really into sitting still right now.

Here are some of our favorite shots-

trail of cherrios

2nd Easter

Maevy, you had a great 2nd Easter. There was no nursery at church, but you happily walked around, played with your book and (2) toys we had with us, and ate a few cherrios during mass. Unfortunately Grandpa rushed you out of church a few minutes early, and by the time the rest of us got home, you were already asleep.(And you took a 2 hour nap!) So, no formal Easter Sunday picture. Sorry.

It was another beautiful, even a little hot day. We decorated eggs
and Grandma & Grandpa gave you with Easter box full of goodies. Your favorite was definitely the eggs!
We liked the bunny ears and pinwheel.

Later we went to the park and you hung from this bar (on your own) for a good 2 seconds. Then we came home to eat a yummy meal and some fun carrot cake cupcakes! Happy Easter Maevy!
