See Ya Later
Tonight at bedtime -
Read you a new book, 123 to the Zoo by Eric Carle. (You did very well counting all the animals.)
Turn off light.
Lay you down in bed.
Give you a hug.
Give you a couple kisses.
Put "pink blanket" on you.
Put "rainbow blanket" on you.
Mommy: "Night night, Maevy. Love you"
Maevy: "Love you Mommy."
Start to walk out the door
Maevy: "See you later, alligator."
Mommy: Take a second to realize what you just said and reply, "See you later, alligator."
Clearly you learned this from school...and it's pretty darn cute. Love you alligator.

Running with Scissors
For a couple months now, you've ask to use Mommy's kitchen scissors or you try to get them out of the drawer yourself. For your birthday, Mommy got you your first pair of child scissors. You love them. I don't know if all two year olds can cut as well as you, but I'm pretty impressed. I'll have to find out if you have practiced at school, but you hold them correctly and you cut really well. Now...you're not perfect. You like to make a cut on a piece of paper and then rip it. Or you make tiny cuts. Here's an example of what our house has looked like the past couple of days.
One other story from this weekend, you took a 3 1/2 hour nap on Saturday. It was beautiful outside; so we played a lot outside with the water table, went for a stroller ride, and stopped by the park...oh and you had a ice cream cone :) We went home and read a couple books. I figured you would want to stay up a little later since you had such a long nap, but around 6ish you yawned. So you ate dinner, took a bath, and got ready for bed. We were sitting on the floor, and I was going to read you a couple books before bed. You laid out your blankie, put your head down, and stretch out on the floor like you were about to fall asleep. I went ahead and read the short book and Daddy patted your back. I said "Ok Maevy let me put you in bed." You said, "No, mommy...on the floor." I still put you in bed. Mommy and Daddy gave you kisses and said goodnight. I couldn't believe you were so sleepy, you were going to sleep on the floor! Sweet dreams, Maevy.

2 Year Growth Stats
This afternoon Mommy and you headed to the doctor's office for your 2nd year check up. You were great, as always, and only cried for a second when Dr. Ladd came into the room.
No shots were needed and your eye test was perfect. (No glasses yet!)
Here are your stats-
Weight- 27lbs, 4oz (60%)
Height- 35 1/4 inches (90%)
Head circumference- 18 1/2 inches (45%)
The nurse and Dr. Ladd kept saying you were "long and lean." Just as we thought, you seem to be growing just fine! Yay!

2nd Birthday Party
Maevy, you had a great 2nd Birthday party. Grandma, Grandpa, M, Pop, Aunt Robyn, Aunt Anna, Aunt Suzie, and Uncle JR all attended. It was a Arts and Crafts themed party which included Palettable Pizzas, Paint by Fruit, and Paint Palette Cupcakes. You received lots of great arts and craft gifts - boots you can be-dazzle, crayons, markers, stickers, construction paper, scissors, finger paint, a felt board (from Aunt Lesley), a Leapfrog Leaptop (from Great-Grandpa & Barbara) and more!
Here are some pictures from your big day -
You were kind of shy for most of the party, but one our favorite moments was after you opened your first present from Aunt Robyn. I told you to go give Aunt Robyn a kiss as a thank you and then you preceeded to go around the room giving everyone kisses. It was very sweet.
When it was cupcake time, you blew a little on the candles, but needed Mommy's help to blow them completely out. I told you could pick your own cupcake and you picked the blue one!
You really liked putting your fruit on the skewer...(and now almost a week later, you ask to put your fruit on a "stick.")
Happy Birthday Maevy! We love you so much and can't wait to see what this next year brings.

Happy #2 Birthday
Maevy,
You made it through to year #2 - and this morning we tried to get a picture of you. You seem to be pretty happy today, and when I practiced with you what to say when someone says "Happy Birthday" to you ( I tried to get you to say "Thank you") you kept replying "Have a good day!"
I'm sure you'll make it work. Love you bunches and you mother has a great party lined up for you this weekend.

Sick and Elmo
Elmo- You love this shirt (above) and are currently obsessed with Elmo. Elmo is only 15 minutes and we let you watch it on weekend mornings, although lately you've gotten in the habit of picking up the remote and asking for Elmo everyday.
Sick story- Daddy didn't feel well last Monday, then on Tuesday we found out we all had strep throat. You seemed fine the whole week. Then on Friday you had a bad cough and running nose. I guess with your immune system low you picked up a virus. It was kind of a rough weekend, lots of crying in the middle of night and medicine. Sunday you slept in a little in the morning, but didn't have a great nap. Late in the afternoon Daddy tried to snap a picture of you and said, "No Daddy, no smile."
Then you told him "nap", grabbed his hand and climbed the stairs. We didn't ask questions, just gave you a kiss, and let you take a late afternoon nap. So sweet...I can't believe you put yourself to bed.
Love you, Mommy.

Great-Grandma Visit
Maevy-
We did it! What did we do? Well two things- one we visited Mommy's Grandma, your Great-Grandma! It was a great trip and your first time meeting Great-Grandma. You put a smile on everyone's face at the assisted living facility and made lots of new friends. You also met Great-Uncle Bill, Great-Aunt Mary Bess, and your cousins Kerre, Madison, Carson, and Sydney. You really loved playing with Carson and Sydney, and immediately asked Sydney to read you several books.
Unfortunately towards the end of the trip you got sick and had a fever on the plane ride home. BUT- you're all better now.
The second thing we did was travel on a plane without Daddy! Mommy had a whole system and lots of toys/books for you to play with. You were great and even entertained some passengers on the plane. On the way home we really only played a little bit and spent most of the trip sleeping. It's much easier to travel with an extra person, but thanks for being such a great travel partner. (sick, sleepy Maevy below)
