Maevy -
You and your brother were both pretty excited!
Goodness- I think you're a strawberry picking pro. This is your 5th year! Thanks for helping pick - I think you did most of your basket all on your own!

Climbing Sunday
Maevy-girl-
I'm still working on getting you to commit to taking a climbing class or attending a Climb Nashville camp this summer. We decided to take you and Carter both climbing last Sunday. Carter didn't last long, but Daddy was nice to bole you for over 2 hours. You even did some bouldering....and some 5.9 tracks that you had to try a couple times and problem solve.
The heights don't seem to bother and you love getting to the top. Keep up the great work. We'll try and take you more often in the coming year. :)
Top club! Check out your little chalk bag...that you think it a necessity now. Daddy and I both crack up when you stop mid-climb to "chalk-up". :)

Girls Weekend
While the boys were in Memphis last weekend - we had a fun a girls weekend! It was great to hang out and watch some of my favorite shows with you!
Friday -
Picked you up from school at dismissal.
Went grocery shopping, and straightened up the house.
Then we went to the car wash-you had never been before. It was fun, and then you helped vacuumed!
Headed to LDC for their movie night.
Millie met up with us for a sleepover.
We were freezing - so we headed home early and then watched Project Runway.
Saturday-
SAVY class in the morning
I took a quick nap - while you started a new mini-blanket on your loom with some new yarn I got you.
Then we headed to Walmart for some shopping - we needed to finish up your penguin costume - but also grabbed you some more socks, a dress, some leggings, some bows, and matching slippers!
Then -you suggested that we go to Sushi Train for dinner! (how fun!) You mostly just ate edamame and dessert, but you did kind of try some sushi. (See pic above.)
We dropped in on the Warrens...and you and Crawfie played for a bit.
Back at home...more Project Runway!
Sunday-
We slept in.
Ate more cinnamon rolls - then watched Amazing Race, the challenge part of Survivor, and another Project Runway!
We finally got dressed and headed to Ms. Karen's - who was nice enough to paint your nails.
Mommy quickly painted hers too.
You wanted to drive by Poppy & Monroe - Ms. Karen's new nail place- not opened up. So we headed that way- while also trying to think of place to eat for lunch.
Then you suggested and then directed me to a place - I didn't even know existed. I guess you had gone there with Daddy before..and said it was good.
You're turning into a mini-Amy with all these restaurant suggestions! It ended up being Steadfast Coffee- which was a little fancy. You kind of ate your eggs....and then told me afterwards that before when you and Daddy went there - you only had water!
Then we headed to the Frist for their Family Day - and had taking our time with all the activities!
Then we headed home - I took a tiny nap- and you spent some more time on your blanket.
Then...the boys got home..and you and Carter immediately started fighting over these tiny tissue packets.
Girls weekend - over!
Had a great time with you! Can't wait to do it again!
Love,
Mommy

Nashville Explorer
Hi Maevy-
It's been a while. Above is a family picture of us at the Ryman. We are currently in the middle of a world-wind tour of Nashville. We're using up the All Access Pass that Grandpa won us at Holly's auction last year. It expires in October; so we've got to get busy. Here are all of the places we are going- Traveler's Rest Plantation, Ryman Auditorium, The Parthenon, Country Music Hall of Fame including the Studio B tour, Cumberland Tavern, General Jackson Showboat, Belle Meade Plantation, Cheekwood, The Frist Art Museum, Lotz House Museum, Grand Ole Opry, and the Belmont Mansion. Phew!
That's a lot! You've done great so far, but I think the funniest place will be the house museums. You like to ask if all the furniture is yours. "Is that my chair?, Is that my bed? Is that my table?"
Looking forward many more Nashville adventures with you!
Love, Mommy

Weekend Round Up
A couple funny stories from the weekend-
Saturday night we headed over to a friend's house for playtime and dinner. You and Charlie were so cute playing together. I think he even gave you your first kiss (on the mouth!) You practiced your animals sounds together and even played in the bath together.
Earlier in the night, I was reading Charlie a book and Charlie's mom, Kate, was reading you a book, which happened to be an Elmo book. I didn't realize it was an Elmo book, but all of sudden I heard you saying, "El-mo" and pointing at Elmo. I was shocked. I didn't know you knew who Elmo was! You don't watch tv and don't have any Elmo books or toys at home. I told the story to your teacher at school this morning and she thinks it's because a lot of diapers have Elmo on them...and sometimes they'll give the kids a clean diaper to play with while they change diapers. Well I guess when you finally do watch Sesame Street, you'll have 1 character down. (Oh dear...)
Sunday we headed to the Frist Museum for Family Free Day. It was crazy busy, but it's always fun to see free art. After we made a craft and went through all the exhibits we headed outside to play in the fountain and get a free ice cream sandwich. (Daddy found the sandwiches.) You were unsure of the ice cream sandwich at first, but quickly started taking huge bites and then running back to the fountains. The pool of water and bench is tall enough that you have to get on your tippy toes to touch the water.
I think Mommy and Daddy were both thinking you were probably going to fall in...and sure enough you did! We were right next to you and picked you right up, but you were soaked. The funniest part was A. you didn't cry at all and B. the second you popped up and caught your breath you opened your mouth toward the ice cream sandwich for a bite. We had to leave quickly afterward because other little girls were asking if they could get in the fountain.
We heard a couple of these conversations-
Little girl: "Mommy, can I get in the fountain?"
Mommy: "No, you can't get in the fountain."
Little girl: "But she got in the fountain."
Mommy: "I don't think she meant to get in the fountain."
We'll have to work on setting a better example next time.

Tomato Festival 2010
Maev-
Today we headed to our neighborhood festival, the Tomato Festival. This is your second one and this year Aunt Lesley made you a cute tomato-themed dress. You received lots of compliments.
Mommy started the morning by running in the 5k.
Then you had breakfast at Bongo Java with Grandpa and Daddy.
We participated in the New Orleans-style parade, and danced with the band afterward.

Luckily we brought the spray bottle and lots of water for the heat. After the parade we found a bouncy house-
Then after nap time, we went back out in the 100 degree weather, but ate lunch inside at Rumours. Daddy tested his strength at the Tomato Olympics and we enjoyed some ice cream at Pied Piper.
It was a hot, long day, but you were great and we had a wonderful day celebrating the tomato... a uniter, not a divider.

Jackson, TN
This weekend, we headed to Jackson, TN to watch Mommy and Aunt Robyn run a 1/2 Marathon. It was Mommy's 2nd, and she finished in 2:04- not bad! It was Aunt Robyn's 1st and she finished in 2:12. You did great in the car both ways. Post- race you took a nap. We had lunch, and then headed to a nearby toddler park where we all had a good time playing. You especially had a fun time with Aunt Robyn's friend, Jake.

Weekend Round-Up
We had a jam-packed weekend. Saturday we picked up the seedlings for the garden. Daddy planted the seedlings while you and Mommy headed out to visit our friends Jack and Miss Sarah. You really enjoyed playing with his toys and chewing on his bristle block toys.
Sunday was another big day which included church followed by a 2 1/2 hour nap. Then we headed to the Zoo to meet up with Charlie and Miss Kate. How cute is this picture of the two of you in the tot area. The tot area was a little crazy with all the older kids running and jumping everywhere. You just wanted to lay on the soft, plush, ground. See here...
I heard crying, and this is you right afterward...wanting to get away from Daddy. We looked at a few animals and even worked on our animal sign language. It was hot and you really don't like sitting in your stroller. So we left and headed over to the Frist Museum and their Martin Quest Kid Gallery. We played with more animals,
did a pattern rubbing,
and painted with watercolors. Eventually you decided to get some water by putting the paint brush in your mouth.
I think your favorite part of the whole day was playing in the fountains outside of The Frist. You just kept laughing and splashing. Phew! That was a big weekend. Hope you had fun! (Note: A few decent pics by Daddy.)
