Over the weekend we were in Memphis. You, Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Anna, Uncle JR, and M all went out for a late lunch/snack at Memphis Pizza Cafe, one our favs. You were enjoying your frozen yogurt, and somebody mentioned a visit to Chicago and how they saw an Andy Warhol exhibit. Daddy and I spoke up and told them about the Andy Warhol exhibit in Nashville. As we were talking, you spoke up and said, "I saw Andy Warhol too!"
You were totally right. We took you with us to The Frist to see it. You played with the "silver-balloons" and we even talked about the self-portrait above. I'm so impressed that you remembered, and I'm looking forward to seeing many more art exhibits with you!

Spongebob
I had another proud moment the other day when we were flipping through the channels, I stopped on the show, Spongebob Squarepants. Here's our conversation:
Mommy: Maevy, do you know who that is?
Maevy: Cheese!
Mommy: Yep, looks like cheese to me.
Right now your tv viewing is still limited to Elmo's World on Sesame Street, Curious George, and we just introduced you to Mommy's favorite, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. (It's a little dated, and it only comes on once a week, but we're still trying it out.)

1st Day of School
Congrats Maevy! Today is a big day. Today you moved to the "Red Building" to the T-4 classroom. Since everyone else is starting school this week, I thought we would also act like it was your first day of school, pictures and all. Ms. Alex decided to move up with you and you'll also have a new teacher, Mr. Chae. Your new classroom is much bigger than T-3, and now that you're bigger, you get to play on big girl/boy playground with swings and a sandbox!
(nice pose)
We're so proud of you. Keep up the good work! Love- Mommy & Daddy

Dooty Booty
Maevy-
"Dooty-booty" kind of haunts me in my sleep...just kidding. A couple months ago when you were first starting to potty train, your teacher, Ms. Alex, said the phrase "dooty-booty" while cleaning up some poopy panties. I don't know if it was a take on dirty-booty or what, but you latched onto this phrase. And now our lives are filled with "dooty-booty". You think it's the funniest thing, and you often start or end your sentences with "dooty-booty".
Common phrases are:
"mommy dooty-booty"
"daddy dooty-booty"
"maevy dooty-booty"
"I'm going to (insert anything here) mommy-daddy dooty-booty."
I love when you laugh at anything, but I'll be happy when you grow out of dooty-booty.

Nashville Explorer
Hi Maevy-
It's been a while. Above is a family picture of us at the Ryman. We are currently in the middle of a world-wind tour of Nashville. We're using up the All Access Pass that Grandpa won us at Holly's auction last year. It expires in October; so we've got to get busy. Here are all of the places we are going- Traveler's Rest Plantation, Ryman Auditorium, The Parthenon, Country Music Hall of Fame including the Studio B tour, Cumberland Tavern, General Jackson Showboat, Belle Meade Plantation, Cheekwood, The Frist Art Museum, Lotz House Museum, Grand Ole Opry, and the Belmont Mansion. Phew!
That's a lot! You've done great so far, but I think the funniest place will be the house museums. You like to ask if all the furniture is yours. "Is that my chair?, Is that my bed? Is that my table?"
Looking forward many more Nashville adventures with you!

Conversations with a Toddler
Within this last month, you have started to speak in complete sentences, which can be both cute and frustrating when you say, "No, I don't want to (insert something here). You also take everything very literally, which is usually very cute.
Story 1-
A couple weekends ago we were leaving the house to go somewhere and you tripped and fell on the sidewalk. This is a very common occurrence. Your knees and legs are full of "boo-boos". You just popped right up and didn't cry. Daddy said, "You are a tough cookie, Maev." You replied, "No, I am not a tough cookie. I am Maevy Taylor. I'm a big girl!" There was no need to correct you. You were right!
Story 2-
Last weekend while in Memphis, we were at Grandpa and Grandma's house. You found a Raggedy Ann doll that Grandma had on her bed. It was her Grandmother's doll, and it probably looked something like this-

You brought it in the kitchen and said, "I got Grandma's lion from her bed." We continued to tell you that it was not a lion, but Raggedy Ann. You maybe called it Raggedy Ann once, but usually stuck to your original idea. It was a lion! Roar!

Family Vacation
Last week we took our first official family vacation. Or at least, that's what I'm calling it. It was a week long; so long that I think you started to think Florida was your new home.
You were great, as usual, and I know all your family (grandparents, aunts, potential future uncles, great-uncle, and cousins) loved spending time with you.
Here's a re-cap of the week-
Saturday- Pool time with Daddy (Mommy was grocery shopping for the week)
Sunday- More pool time; Grandpa's Birthday cookout (You spent the rest of week pointing to the picnic tables and singing "Happy Birthday Grandpa". You also claimed while helping Grandma shuck the corn on the cob that "It was too hard!")
Monday- Day with Grandpa and Grandma (bike ride and pool time); sleep over at Grandma's
Tuesday- Pool day, bike ride with Mommy and Daddy (You loved going over all the bumps along the road. And, you had fun playing with Syndey in the hot tub.)
Wednesday- Morning with Mommy at the pool; Afternoon with Grandpa and Grandma
Thursday- Day with Daddy and Grandpa, pool and paddleboat ride...oh and this is the day that Daddy swears you went down the big tube slide over 10 times by yourself!
Friday- Pool day with pictures in the afternoon
Saturday- Check out day; hung out at Downtown Disney. You got to play at the Lego Store, the toy store with Mr. Potato Head, rode the carousel twice, the train once, and played with sprinklers. Oh and we spent 4 hours at the airport! You spent lots of time riding the moving walkway and playing with the line thingy. (See pictures below.)
Although you did not go to Disney World, Grandma did get you small Mickey Mouse stuffed animal. We taught you who it was, but continued to call it Nicky Mouse for most of the week. And one morning you woke up and told me it was a kitty cat. (It does have big ears.) As of today, I think you know it's Mickey Mouse, but I'm not quite sure you know what his deal is. (Me, either.)
Oh and we did attempt to watch Finding Nemo one or two times with you while it was either raining or we were making dinner. You sufficiently lasted about 15-20 minutes, and spent the majority of the time asking "Where's Nemo? Where did Nemo go?"
watching elmo with new headphones (6a flight..yay!...boo)
among the palm trees
with grandma and grandpa
big kiss with aunt robyn
with mommy and daddy
flamingo impression
at the pool
down the slide!
terrified on the train at Downtown Disney
doing better on the carousel
even better with the sprinklers
entertaining yourself at the airport
Love you Maevy. I'm already looking forward to our next vaca!
